Grow bananas, papaya, ginger, rare chillies and other exotics with the electric Rain & Drain planter which enables you to create the conditions needed by tropical plants.
This Rain & Drain planter includes a timer which feeds and waters your plants several times a day, mimicking the conditions of a tropical environment without the risk of over-watering, so you get strong healthy plants and bumper harvests.
Typically we set our Rain & Drain planters to feed and water our Exotics 3x per day for 15 seconds each time. Any water and nutrient not needed by the plants drains back into the reservoir. We provide a guide to help you decide on the watering frequency and duration settings.
The small Rain & Drain holds 17 litres of water and the large holds 45 litres, plenty to keep your plants fed and watered for several days at a time, you can add a Holiday Watering Kit to keep your plants fed and watered for up to two weeks at a time, taking care of weekends away and holidays.
Although the Rain & Drain is electric, the power consumption is very low, it costs pennies a day to run.

- 6 litres of reusable clay pebbles - to be used instead of soil, so that your plant’s roots benefit from the superb drainage and excellent access to oxygen which are essential for optimum growth and yields.
- 5litres of concentrated plant nutrients - sufficient for one season which includes all the elements plants need for healthy growth. You will empty and refill the planter reservoir every 3 or 4 weeks, so no elements are ever too depleted or too concentrated.

The Rain & Drain is ideal for growing tropical and exotic plants because it can be timed to automatically feed and water plants several times a day and it provides roots with superb access to oxygen, so that you get healthy plants and bumper harvests.
Many exotic and tropical plants need a lot of water, but if you provide too much water the roots become water-logged (making them less efficient at taking up water and eventually causing the roots to rot). In the Rain & Drain plants receive small amounts of water very frequently, the pebbles (used instead of soil and included with your Rain & Drain) can’t become water-logged. Whatever the plant doesn’t need drains back into the reservoir and this drain action has the added benefit of pulling oxygen into the root area.
The complete nutrient feed that we include provides your plants with all the nutrients they need. By emptying and refilling the reservoir each month you can be certain the nutrient mix never becomes depleted or too concentrated as often happens when growing long term plants in containers.
This is a great planter for anyone who really wants to get to know their plants and how their needs change as they grow. You can monitor pH levels (pH testing and correcting kit included as well as instructions).

Returns
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply return the items to us in their original condition and packaging within 14 days of receipt and we will issue a full refund (excluding original delivery charge).

Royal Mail: If you have paid £2.95
If the parcel won’t fit through your letter box out and you are out when Royal Mail try to deliver, the driver will leave a card asking you to collect your item from your local delivery office or arrange a redelivery.
Courier: If you have paid £4.95
You can add 'If Out' delivery instructions (such as leave in the garage if out) when you place your order. If you are not in and you have not provided ‘if out’ instructions the driver will leave a card asking you to call the phone number on the card to arrange a redelivery or to arrange to collect the parcel from your local depot (low cost local charges apply).
Gifts
If your order is for a gift add 'Gift' to the Comments section when you place your order, or if you are ordering over the phone just let us know and we will email you the receipt instead of including it in the parcel. There will be no other indication of price in the parcel.
