What's great about it?
Stress-free Holiday Watering
Our Quadgrow and Octogrow come complete with a Holiday Watering Kit which connects an external 25 litre reservoir (included) to the smaller integral reservoir and takes care of weekends and weeks away. Just top up the 25litre reservoir before you go and your plants will be watered for up to two weeks.
Develops green fingers
You don’t need green fingers to lead a school gardening project using the Quadrow and Octogrow – but you and your learners will quickly develop them. Pupils can see how much water has been taken from the reservoir so they’ll quickly learn to recognise how the amount of water needed differs according to soil dampness, plant size, light levels and weather conditions.
Grow Bigger Harvests
Plants in the Quadgrow and Octogrow produce a bumper harvests because they are provided with constant access to water and nutrients but they never sit in water.
Your plants are never over-watered or under-watered, great news when you consider that these are the two most common causes of many gardening problems. You won’t hear Quadgrow growers complaining of blossom end rot and yellow leaf drop.
The 11 litre pots provide each plant with plenty of space to grow the large, thick roots they need for nourishment. Well nourished plants are stress free so they can focus on producing fruit raising a fantastic harvest. We have regularly harvest raised up to 10lbs of tomatoes from our Quadgrowin ours.
Grow anywhere, no green space required
You can use your Quadgrow and Octogrow anywhere; in the garden, on the patio or indoors in your conservatory or kitchen. Just find a sunny spot.

A head start – thanks to lids option
Add the optional lids and you’ll give tender plants the best start. They’ll be protected from frosts and nibbling pests.

How it Works
The automatic watering is powered by the Smart Mat Strips. These take water from the Reservoir up to the soil in the each of the pots. This ensures your plants always receive the perfect balance of water, nutrients and oxygen, putting an end to under-watering and over-watering.
The reservoir is continuously topped up by the Holiday Watering Kit thanks to a water regulator. Simply add water and our specially formulated plant food to the Holiday Watering Kit’s 25 litre bucket every two weeks and your plants will have constant access to nourishment.

What schools think of our growing kits and propagators
Hillbourne School and Nursery, Dorset
3x Hydro Systems and Hydro Propagator
In 2007 Andy Hatchard’s class grew tomatoes in their new hydro system in the school’s science lab. In 2008 the school secured lottery funding to extend their school garden and buy more Greenhouse Sensation growing kits, so they bought two more hydro systems and a hydro propagator for raising seeds and cuttings.
Andy said:
“Along with our enlarged organic veg patch and the hydro systems we should have bumper crops."
Whitmore Junior School, Essex
Hydro System
The year 6 pupils at Whitmore Junior School have been growing tomatoes and cucumbers in their hydro system since 2006. Every pupil is given some seeds to raise and the best young plants are selected for growing-on.
The pupils are all eager to have a taste. Iris Cherney, the school’s headteacher explained:
“We are pleased to inform you that our tomatoes are almost up to our roof! They are doing extremely well and we can see a small fruit on one or two branches. Your system is wonderful we have tried growing tomatoes before but we have never seen plants looking so healthy."
Eve, one of the teachers at the school, sent us this email:
“We think that it’s very important that children understand the importance of getting their 5-a-day and that they learn to consider the environmental impact of the way that food is grown and gets to their plates. We have opted to use a hydro system because it should be a great way of getting children excited about growing and eating their five a day because the plants grow so quickly.”

Bumper harvest of 7.9kg of tomatoes!
In 2009, our Gardening Angel Victoria planted Scarlatto, San Marzano, Rosada and Sweet Million tomatoes in a Quadgrow in our Greenhouse . She harvested 7.9kg from just one Quadgrow. Marvellous!

Amazing difference in growth rate
Julian at thechileman.org reports on the great results he has had growing with a Quadgrow
Julian the Chileman sent in these photos, highlighting how well his tomatoes are growing in his Quadgrow.
He is growing a heritage tomato plant in this Quadgrow pot. Compare it to the plant in the pot alongside. The small blue pot is the same heritage tomato plant potted into a normal plant pot.
The automatic watering from the Quadgrow that is feeding the lucky heritage tomato is making a big difference in comparison to conventional growing.

The image above, on the right, is a comparison from Julian's Marianna's Peace tomatoes.
The plant on the left is growing in Julian's Quadgrow and it's receiving the Greenhouse Sensation balanced plant food, included in each Quadrow.
Both varieties were pricked out as seedlings at the same time and the difference in growth rate is amazing. The biggest leaves on the Quadgrow-grown plant are the length of the small plant.
