Quadgrow - Self Watering Planter

"The answer to most gardeners' prayers" Garden Answers magazine

Anyone growing veg in growbags or pots will love the Quadgrow. This is our best selling planter and it produces bigger harvests than plant pots & growbags and even keeps plants watered for 10 days while you are on holiday.

The Quadgrow has many fans, including the editor of Garden Answers magazine and Kitchen Garden magazine and was featured in the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail.

Ideal for tomatoes and all other plants usually grown in a grow bag (including beans, aubergines, peas and peppers).

Price From: £42.90
Perfect for
  • tomatoestomatoes
  • chillieschillies
  • tall-cropping-plantstall-cropping-plants

Special offer: 2 Quadgrows for £64.90
Standard UK Delivery £4.95

Perfect For: Tomatoes, Aubergine, Sweet Peppers, French Beans, Runner Beans, Cucumber and Peas.

Our best selling planter produces much bigger harvests than plant pots & growbags thanks to the SmartReservoir which holds 30 litres, plenty to keep plants perfectly fed & watered for several days at a time.

Simply fill the SmartReservoir and let the FeederMats in the pots pull water up to the roots when they need it. The plants have access to water whenever they need it, so there's no risk of the common gardening problems of tomatoes or other veg splitting or of blossom end rot.

So that's no more holiday watering rotas, and definitely no disappointing harvests caused by erratic watering. Typically gardeners find that they harvest 2x as much using the Quadgrow compared with other growbags or pots.

The Quadgrow is an ideal replacement for traditional pots & grow bags and is perfect for tomatoes, beans, peppers, aubergines and other tall cropping plants and can be used outdoors, in a greenhouse, or in a polytunnel.

  • The Quadgrow produces healthier plants and bigger harvests than traditional pots, planters and grow bags by providing your plants with constant access to water without ever over-watering.

    What happens when we overwater?

Plants need to constantly replace the water they use, but overwatering prevents roots from accessing oxygen and is the number one cause of plant demise.

If soil is over-watered the pores in the soil become blocked and the roots can't access the air in the soil. The lack of oxygen means that the roots can't take up water or nutrients. A plant weakened by overwatering becomes susceptible to disease, particularly fungal attacks. If the over-watering is repeated the roots suffocate and die.

    What happens when we underwater?

Plants use water for cell growth and for overall health, but they also need water for the following specific functions, which are compromised when we under-water.

    Transporting minerals and nutrients

Plants use water to move minerals and nutrients from the roots around the plant, and to move glucose (from photosynthesis) from leaves to other cells in the plant.

    Photosynthesis

About 5% of the water absorbed by plants is used to make glucose during the photosynthesis process.

    Transpiration

As well as water, plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis (they combine water, carbon dioxide and light to produce glucose). They access this carbon dioxide through microscopic openings on their leaves and stems. These openings are called ‘stomata’. The stomata open and close regularly to absorb carbon dioxide and as they do this they also release water, this release of water is called transpiration. If the plant is short of water it won't open its stomato as frequently and therefore it won't photosynthesise as much. Sunny, hot weather increases the rate of transpiration, so plants need more water in these conditions.

It's no wonder then that incorrect watering causes most gardening problems, including blossom end rot and fruit splitting, such as when growing in traditional tomato planters.

    Perfect for?
The Quadgrow is perfect for any tall-cropping plant from aubergines to zucchini and including beans, chillies, cucumbers, courgettes, peas, peppers and tomato plants. The Quadgrow is the perfect replacement for traditional pots, planters and grow bags.

As we are the inventors, designers and manufacturers of the Quadgrow planter we are always really pleased when somebody says something nice about it and lots of people have, no wonder it's a best seller. Here's a sample of what magazines and professional growers have said about it.

‘The answer to most gardeners' prayers. No more coming home to find your peppers parched.’ Garden Answers Magazine

Much more responsive to a plant's needs than hand or dripper watering' Kitchen Garden magazine

'Ensures plants take up exactly what they need' Grow It magazine

'The Trinidad Scorpions are in a Quadgrow, definitely super planters - growth is huge in comparison to the plants in ground.' Jamie, Wiltshire Chilli Farm

'No more strugling to keep up with the twice daily watering tour' Kitchen Garden magazine

'The Quadgrow gives me the peace of mind to go away, during the heat of the summer, safe in the knowledge that my plants are in safe hands.’ Matt Simspon Simpson’s Seeds

‘Just fantastic, brilliant, the plants have grown incredibly healthy and at an incredible size. The best thing is you don’t need to worry about watering!’ Alex – ‘The Upton Cheyney Chilli Company'

Delighted - incredible results Review by Mike & Sue
    Quality
We have had great success with both Quadgrows. We started our Runner Beans outside using the covers provided. The results are incredible.

Today we had our 3rd picking of beans, much better than imported supermarket produce. We have used the Quadgrow to grow carrots, spring onions and radish. We have just started another planting of carrots. Hopefully we will be picking veg well into the autumn.

It all started with a small plot vacated by a 2 metre x 2 metre car trailer.

The results exceed all expectations and we are highly delighted with this product. We are not expert growers in any way and therefore if we can do it then anyone with a small space to spare can get great enjoyment and more importantly excellent fresh veg.

Again thank you for introducing us to such an excellent idea and will would definitely recommend this product to others.

I bought two sets of the Quadgrow - initially just one, but I was so pleased with the quality that I bought a second. I feel this product has been really thought through, fully trialled and tested by the company itself at their headquarters.

I have every confidence that it will be everything I want for my tomato plants in the coming season.

I met representatives of Greenhouse Sensation at the Edible Garden Show and they couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. (Posted on 22/04/2013)

Far and away the best I have used Review by R. H
I am surprised how well the plants have grown and the amount of fruit they have so far produced.
Growing tomatoes in a surburban garden is a gamble even with the most well prepared conditions.Having tried many methods of growing tomatoes over the years, judging by this year's crop this system is far and away the best I have used

Great Product - Treat Yourself Review by Lauren
I bought 2 Quadgrows and I am delighted with them. Tomato plants have only been in the pots for 3 weeks, grown to 5ft already with 3 trusses setting. Considering the sunless, cold, wet weather we have had, they are thriving well. I'm loving the fact I don't have to think about filling a watering can (the night before) to warm up etc.
I will be getting 2 chilligrows (hopefully) for my birthday :) (Posted on 21/06/2012)
Excellent piece of kit Review by Gareth
This took a little time to set up but in two weeks (of this very hot weather) has already saved me hours of watering time and gallons of water.

I have Chilis that are 5" long already on strong plants, with no use of green house. Straight from windowsil seed propagator to the Quadgrow outside.

I have used it in conjunction with the slug gone mulch and even with wind and daytime temp of 27deg in direct sun for 10 hours the compost is still damp 10mm below surface.

Only two things to improve would be a highly UV stable cream or white version, as the black stuff gets of enough to burn my hands and presumeably not help roots inside in direct sun. The holes to screw top on reservoir did not line up correctly and required a simple re-drill by me.

Overall this is a fantastic product and is so efficient in conserving water and growing good plants, it should be VAT exempt!!! (Posted on 28/05/2012)

”I have purchased and use regularly two Vitopod propagators, also Quadpots for growing tomato and chilli plants.
Greenhouse sensation are very good at what they do, they have excellent products on a 1st class website and they answer any queries and offer advice on the best way to grow vegetables.
The Hydroponic propagators and systems are also excellent and I highly recommend them”

Well made piece of kit. Review by Alan
I have just taken delivery of my quadgrow kit. (Quadgrow slim X2) I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality. It certainly looks like it will do the job. Everything is well made and of top quality. The only reason that I have given 4 stars not 5 is that I haven't grown anything yet, this rating is purely based on appearance.
I can't wait for the tomato season.
I have some Alaskan Fancy plants that I sowed very late with the idea of catching a late crop in the greenhouse. Bush tomatoes are probably not ideal for this system but I think I shall try planting two bushes into opposite ends of a quadgrow and perhaps put a tall chilli or two into the middle just to see what happens. I have a couple of Pimientos de padron plants that might do the job.
If it works well I may be tempted to turn the heat up a notch in the greenhouse and plant the other planter as well.
I like the idea of a steady water and feed supply for long periods - should mean an end to blossom end rot. Especially when you are away for a few days and someone else does the watering. 30 litres should last a fair while, and there is the option of the holiday reservoir if you want even more.

I grew peppers under identical conditions, in the Quadgrow and in a normal plant pot. The experiment wasn't completely scientific, but the Quadgrow plants grew at roughly three times the rate, and produced much healthier plants with a much bigger crop of fruit. Have since used it to grow fantastic basil. Two or three other people have bought them after seeing the results I was getting. (Posted on 21/09/2011)
