Vitogrow Blog

Welcome to the Vitogrow Blog...

We thought we would keep a blog of our Vitogrows to show how much you can grow in a small space.

We’ve sown 2 Vitogrows.

In the veg Vitogrow we planted Spinach, Paris Silverskin Onion, Beetroot, Turnips and Carrot seeds.

In the salad Vitogrow we planted Mixed Lettuce leaves, Spring Onion, Radish, and Rocket.

vitogrows2webThe seeds in both Vitgrows are already germinating nicely. The tallest plant is 4-5cm. We have thinned the beetroot, carrot and turnips.

In the salad Vitogrow we have thinned out the radish and Spinach, with the tallest plant at 7cm!

vitogrow_vegwebTallest Plant- 23cm (Radish)

The sunshine has led to a rapid growth. The beetroot and turnips are 12cm tall.

The radishes are 23cm tall, spinach is 16cm tall and lettuce leaves are ready for eating.

Entry 4- 03/06/2010- 11/06/2010

vitogrowTallest Plan- 40cm (Turnip)

The beetroot and turnips have grown so much they are over-crowding the carrots and onions. However, the radishes and turnips will be harvested soon, so this will give the carrots and onions more space and light to grow.

We’ve picked more salad leaves too.

Entry 5- 11/06/2010- 20/06/2010

radishes2The majority of the veg in our first Vitogrow is ready to pick, especially the baby turnips, which will give more room for the spring onions and carrots.

We have harvested radish and spinach and we are still picking mixed salad leaves and rocket, which are great as cut and come again.

This week we harvested over 3kgs of baby turnip from our Vitogrow, giving the baby spring onions and carrots more space.

We are also still picking rocket and mixed salad leaves form the salad Vitogrow along with a couple of baby spring onions.

vitogrow_beetrootWe have fully harvested our Salad Vitogrow and are preparing to start growing again, laying down some more compost and sowing some more seeds.

The Vegetable Vitogrow is also almost ready to harvest with just beetroot and carrots left now.

Entry 8- 08.07.2010- 16.07.2010

vitogrow_19We have harvested the beetroot from the vegetable Vitogrow. As you can see from the photo they have grown really well and we can’t wait to eat them.

With the beetroot all harvested the carrots have even more space to grow and should be ready for the picking in the next two weeks.

Entry 9- 02.08.2010- 08.08.2010

beetroot040810We harvested the last of the beetroot from the vegetable Vitogrow, we’ve had 25 good sized ones.  Our carrots now have ample space and nutrients to continue their growth.
