Extend your Season with Grow Lights

Sunblaster Grow Lights

We all know that plants need light for photosynthesis, but plants have slightly different needs at different stages. Here’s what you need to know...

The visible light spectrum emits light in wavelengths seen as colours from red to violet. Plants mainly absorb red and blue while more green and yellow light is reflected, giving leaves their green colour.

During early growth plants need more blue light for leaf and root growth and intense photosynthesis. Plants not required to flower use mostly blue light throughout their growth.

The red light wavelengths encourage stem growth, flowering, fruiting and chlorophyll production. These red wavelengths are more prevalent during autumn and winter.

Light Intensity
Some plants prefer moderate sun or shade. Ferns, for example, grow in shade while tomato plant need 8 hours of direct sunlight a day. If using artificial lights, you can increase light intensity by placing lights closer to the plants.

Light Duration

Most plants prefer 12 to 14 hours of light per day. If you’re using lights remember that darkness is essential as it allows plants to rest and triggers flowering.

Did You Know?
Etiolation is a process that causes the plant to weaken if they don’t get enough light, common indications are leggy leaves and stems and a yellowing in colour known as chlorosis. The most cause is gardeners starting seeds before the sunlight hours are sufficiently long. We all want to get our seeds started before there’s sufficient natural light to support the growth, which is where artificial lights such as the Sunblaster are useful’.

How our Propagation Lights Help!

Without sufficient lighting, plants are more susceptible to disease and leggy growth, which is a real problem when you start growing early.

Ensure your seeds and plants receive the correct lighting with a propagation light. Our Propagation Lights emit a high-output light that emulates natural daylight that can trick your plant into continued growth.

Leggy growth occurs when plants are struggling to reach light, so will focus their energy on growing taller rather than wider, meaning they are unable to support their own weight.

Using a propagation light is the perfect way to both extend your growing season later into the year and begin growing sooner.

Duogrow Holiday Proof Planter with Grow Lights

The Sunblaster grow lights feature a unique Nanotech enhanced reflector to ensure plants receive the maximum level of light. Whilst a standard reflective cover will increase lumen availability by around 80%, the Sunblaster’s Nanotech enhanced reflector increases lumen availability by 300%, ensuring 99.9% of the generated light is retained.

You can suspend your lights above your propagators with the use of heavy duty light hangers or a light stand to suit the area your propagator is in.

Geopod With Propagation Lights

Plants can suffer if the lights are too hot, however the Sunblaster’s Nanotech enhanced reflector allows heat to escape from the lamp; meaning you can get this close without any risk to your plants!

Even the lamps have been optimised for the propagation grow lights. The lamps feature a “Cold Chamber”, implemented to ensure the contained mercury gas is kept at the most efficient operating temperature, allowing the lamps to produce the highest possible light output.

These propagation lights will not flicker, will not emit sound and only weigh 100g. They are easy to install & move and can even be linked together in chains of up to 8 lights. The customisation options available are ideal for fully utilising your growing space.

LED Grow Lights

Another option for propagation lighting is our LED grow lights. Our Street Light LEDs include self-cooling technology that allows far less heat to be emitted, making them super efficient.

These lights also come complete with a built-in reflector to ensure the light is retained for your plants. They are incredibly efficient at converting power into useable light, making them very cost effective to run. They also have a long life of up to 50000 hours.

LED lights are available in three light spectrums, allowing you to choose the lighting that is best for your plants. Our LED lights for propagation deliver a blue light spectrum of 6500k - this is perfect for getting your seeds off to the best start, with no yellow leaves or leggy growth.

Our LED lights for flowering deliver a red light spectrum of 2700k - these red LED Lights are perfect for the flowering stage of plant growth.

Alternatively, if you're looking for the best of both worlds, our All-Season LED Lights deliver a purple dual light spectrum of 6500/2700k - this makes them perfect for both propagation and flowering stages of growth.

Our LED Lights can be used with a range of range of propagation light stands and hangers, which offer a fuss-free set up and instant, secure support for your lighting. Choose the stand that suits your growing area, place it on your greenhouse staging or the floor, attach your light with the built-in adjustable light hanging system, and raise and lower to the desired height quickly and easily.
