'Results are wonderful' - BBC Gardeners World

Perfect For: Softwood and hardwood cuttings including Fuchsia, Chrysanthemum, Geranium, Hydrangea, Begonia, Dahlia, Pelargonium, Honeysuckle & other plants you want to grow from cuttings.

Grow new plants from existing ones with our Hydropod Cuttings Propagator.

The Hydropod constantly sprays the cuttings so they never dry out and nor do they get waterlogged and rot. No wonder BBC Gardeners World, Kitchen Garden magazine and Grow Your Own magazine have all sung its praises.

The Hydropod is easy to use. Take cuttings from the existing plants (our guide shows you how) and place them in the Hydropod, plug the Hydropod in and wait until the roots are around 3 inches long, then pot them on as you usually would. Watch our video in the tabs below on potting-on from Hydropod to soil.

It's a great way to restock your garden for free and the Hydropod cuttings propagator is used by beginners and professionals, because it produces healthy plants, reliably and quickly.

The Hydropod Cuttings Propagator can also be fitted with optional lights or a water heater. Not in any way essential, but nice to have if you are growing in a darker space or you want to propagate in the darker months. The lights fit into the specially designed grooves in the propagator lid and should just be used to extend the day light hours to longer than 12 per day. The heater maintains an even water temperature so that you do not lose plants to low temperatures.

Theres nothing more rewarding than growing plants from cuttings. By splitting and dividing your plants in a Hydropod Cuttings propagator you can re-stock your garden cost effectively with your favourite plants.

The Hydropod cuttings propagator increases cuttings propagation success rates and speeds up plants root growth by getting the moisture balance right for you, preventing damping-off and mould.

Simply take your plant cuttings and place them in the sponge discs in the Hydropod, then add water. A constant mist will be sprayed over the base of your cuttings to maintain perfect moisture levels without water-logging.

A plant cutting loses water through its leaves but has no root system by which it can absorb water, it can take up a small amount through its base. In our Hydropod Propagator cuttings are misted; this mist lowers the leaf temperature, creates a humid atmosphere and reduces the amount of water lost from the leaves – so cuttings are kept moist but without ever becoming water-logged (water-logging leads to rotting and mould).

The constant spray of water around the base of the plants has the added advantage of encouraging the roots to ‘grow-out’ quickly to access the water.

The lid retains warmth and the optional heater maintains an even temperature so that you don’t lose plants to low temperatures.

The vent in the lid enables you to lower the humidity as the cuttings grow.

Some of the most popular plants grown from cuttings includes: Alternanthera, abutilon, acaclypha, angelonia, antirrhinum, African daisy, arctotis, argyranthemum, aristolochia, artemisia, asclepias, ballota, begonia, cissus, citrus, coleus, convolvulus, coprosma, cordyline, cuphea, diascia, dichondra, duranta, eucomis, euphorbia, evolvulus, felicia, fuchsia, gardenia, gazania, perennial geranium, gynura, helichrysum, heliothrope, hibiscus, impatiens and balsam, ipomea (moonflower, sweet potato vine, morning glory and others), iresine, jasmine, lavender, lemon verbena, leonotis, lonicera (honeysuckle), loropetalum, lotus, lupine, mandevilla, horehound, nepeta, ocimum, plecthranthus, plumbago, rose, rosemary, ruellia, sage, solanum, stachys, strobilanthes, thunbergia, tibouchina, tradescantia.
